Q: What’s your secret to self-care?
A: Over the years, I have been continuously learning to honor my body as a temple and give myself love. However, life is busy and it’s easy to get out of balance, especially when I am juggling multiple events or styling jobs. I try not to overcomplicate things. Each day, I always check in that I have done something for each aspect of myself—mind, body, and soul. How this looks changes daily, and I love the exibility that allows.
Q: What is a truth that you know for sure?
A: The world isn’t slowing down, so we have to. This more than anything brings me straight back into the present moment and reminds me to enjoy every minute of my life.
Q: What is something that you wish you would’ve known when you were 20?
A: I wish I believed I was creative! I was stuck in my left brain, and it’s only as I’ve grown that I’ve stepped into my feminine self and through that have allowed my creativity to flow through.
Q: What does living a conscious life mean to you?
A: Living in tune with the cycles of nature. Following my breath, and living in the rhythmic flow of the universe. Being aware of all living things big and small, and being humbled by the stars. Being responsible for our actions and impact and leaving the earth better than I found it.
Q: How do you create a sacred space at home and work? What inspires you?
A: Creating sacred spaces for people to celebrate life is my passion! It’s what lights me up, and I am constantly doing it. I even go over to friends’ houses and rearrange their rooms. Haha! My home is dappled in sunlight and full of plants and cushions. I style the space based on comfort but also balance, thinking about what is going to make the room feel the nicest in terms of flow. It’s important to re-energize your sacred space by cleaning and by burning incense or candles, which I often do. I can never look past Pinterest for an extra dose of inspiration!
Q: What is essential to creating a personal sanctuary?
A: Just a little bit of time carved out to dedicate towards putting love into your space. Plants always help too.
Q: How do you stay centered in the middle of chaos?
A: I’ve learned what lights me up. One of the things that never fails to bring me back to being happy is diving under a wave in the ocean, eyes wide open looking at the turquoise water. That’s my second hit. For a slower release, I get to yoga for an hour of mindful movement and 100% focus on my breath.
