Changing temperatures and the arrival of spring call for herbs that aid relaxation, boost immunity, and support mental clarity and stress relief. Our immune system maintains the ecological relationship between mind, body, and spirit, and it’s important that we have the tools necessary to nurture all three, whether with teas, tinctures, or topical creams.

Arnica Montana

After a long day on your feet, arnica gel is a go-to healer for sore muscles, aches, and pains.

Calendula

Contains antimicrobial and antiviral components, making it great in tea to fight sore throats or to be applied topically to soothe inflammation.

Elderberry

A natural antioxidant and source of vitamin C, elderberries have also demonstrated the ability to deactivate 10 strains of the flu virus.

Echinacea

Echinacea will support and gradually strengthen a weakened immune system, particularly effective when you’ve become “run-down” as a result of stress.

Lavender

Renowned for settling frazzled nerves, this plant can help reduce difficulty falling asleep and prevent nighttime wakening. Great as tea or diffused essential oil.

Tulsi (Holy Basil)

In Ayurveda, tulsi is used to bring a sense of mental clarity. It’s the perfect herb for dispelling the winter blues, especially if you are suffering with a bout of cold or flu.

Valerian

Directly promotes relaxation of the nervous system and encourages healthy sleeping patterns, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead.

Reading this made me slow down and think about how often I ignore simple, natural support for my body. Herbs like lavender and tulsi feel almost comforting just to read about. Even during breaks from playing basketball legends, I rarely think about recovery like this. Maybe a warm cup of tea is exactly what I’ve been missing lately to feel more balanced.
